Staff Clinician-Counseling Center
Job Overview
This position would be a member of the Counseling and Psychological Serves (UC-CAPS) team. Under general supervision from a designated administrator, provide direct clinical counseling services, develop and provide outreach to these college communities and build a supportive community for the academic success and well-being of students.
Essential Functions
- Provide direct counseling services to university students including intake, evaluation, counseling, and emergency/crisis management.
- Provide consultation to university community regarding counseling needs.
- In collaboration with administration, develop and provide outreach, programs, events, and initiatives to students, faculty, and staff.
- Serve as liaison for the counseling center to the university community and community agencies.
- Participate in training program(s) within the counseling center
- Develop and coordinates programs within the counseling center
- Collect data for program coordination.
- Keep abreast of developments in professional field, related to student mental health, cultural competency and equitable access to services.
- Represent the department on committees.
- May provide direct or in direct supervision to staff or trainees.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Required Education
Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling, or Doctorate Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (PhD or PsyD).
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Must be independently licensed or licensed eligible as a psychologist, social worker, or clinical counselor in the State of Ohio, with the ability to supervise in their discipline.
- License must be achieved within six (6) months of date of employment.
Required Experience
Three (3) years of clinical experience.

- Experience working as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Familiarity working with a culturally informed lens
- Experience with the rigors and demands of graduate and professional studies
- Experience with the rigors and demands of law/professional studies
- Experience with the rigors and demands of law/professional studies
- Familiarity with trauma-informed interventions
- Experience treating substance misuse and addictions
