Statistical Analyst B - Epidemiology Division
Job Description Summary
We are seeking a research professional with specialized training in epidemiology and/or biostatistics to support data collection and analysis for clinical epidemiology research in pediatric oncology. Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the individual will provide support for research involving the collection of prospective data from clinical trials and observational studies, observational data, electronic health records, large administrative claims, and echo imaging databases.
The incumbent will support manuscript preparation by developing summary data tables, creating analytic-grade datasets, and preparing datasets for public data deposition. They will also assist with collaborative mixed-methods and qualitative research projects. In addition, the incumbent will provide statistical support for a range of research activities, including performing statistical analyses and generating tables and figures for publications. Under the guidance of the Project Manager, the research personnel will assist in drafting IRB protocols and submissions and help coordinate study-related activities as needed.
Job Description
This position involves both quantitative data analysis and project coordination responsibilities. Proficiency in R, SAS, and/or STATA biostatistical software is required, and at least one year of prior experience in clinical research methods is preferred. The candidate will perform study coordination, detailed standardized data collection, and statistical analyses based on plans developed by PI and collaboratively with the research team. They will apply epidemiologic and biostatistical techniques to ongoing projects, create tables and figures for manuscripts intended for peer-review journals, and contribute to the development of grant proposals for external funding. Additionally, the candidate will serve as a collaborative member of the research group, supporting a range of research initiatives and engaging with other researchers within the institution.
Job Responsibilities
- Under guidance of PI, perform statistical analyses consistent with specific study objectives
- Perform data coordination for established cohorts and linked data from multiple sources. This includes the efficient creation of analytic grade datasets based on analytic plan.
- Conduct statistical programming and analysis including the analysis of clinical data from varied sources applying epidemiologic and biostatistics methods
- Write descriptions of analyses and findings for research protocols and grant proposals, and calculate sample size requirements for studies
- Perform detailed standardized chart and report abstractions to support the collection of data for various projects. Resolve queries received from data coordinating center of multi-site projects in a timely manner.
- Maintain source documents and case report forms.
- Assist with the drafting and editing of documentation for IRB submissions
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Economics, or a related field, and 3-5 years of experience in one of these areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Ph.D. in one of the above fields with at least 1 year of clinical research experience preferred.
Proficiency in SAS (including SAS/SQL, SAS/GRAPH, SAS macros) with experience in programming of common statistical methods used in medical and clinical research. Experience working with databases for statistical analysis, like MS Access, Filemaker Pro, Oracle, MS SQL server. Familiarity with both Unix system and Windows operating system.
[Preferred] Detail-oriented with excellent validation and documentation skills, high-level of personal initiative; ability to work independently as well as collaborate in teams. Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate clearly.
Position is contingent upon continued funding.
