About This Opportunity

We are seeking a diligent and energetic Storeperson to support the daily operations of the UQ Science Store.

Reporting to the Stores Operations Officer, you will provide first-line support and advice to clients on product selection, goods receipt, supply and delivery, and chemical waste collection. Duties are varied and driven by client needs, offering a dynamic and hands-on work environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist clients with enquiries about chemicals, lab consumables, and chemical waste.
  • Receive and check deliveries, match items to purchase orders, manage stock lines, back orders, and redistributions.
  • Notify suppliers of delivery discrepancies and assist with stock counts.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare chemical and lab consumable orders for delivery.
  • Prepare chemical waste bottles and labels for collection and delivery.
  • Deliver chemicals and collect chemical waste across UQ sites, ensuring compliance with the dangerous goods code, segregation, and signage requirements.
  • Assist laboratory relocations of hazardous chemicals between UQ sites.
  • Conduct stocktakes and operate manual handling equipment as required.
  • Operate Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (RIIHAN301D), Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (AS/NZS 1715:2009), and forklifts as needed.

About You

  • Completion of a trade certificate or Certificate III; or completion of Year 12 or Certificate II with relevant work experience
  • Unrestricted current driver’s license
  • Relevant stores or warehouse experience
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with the ability to accurately process client orders and goods receipt
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including a professional telephone manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a flexible team environment
  • A strong focus on delivering high levels of client service
  • Understanding of and commitment to equity and equal opportunity principles
  • Queensland Licence to Perform High Risk Work (LF Forklift)

Desirable

  • Current First Aid certification
  • Experience operating an Elevating Work Platform (EWP) under 11 meters
  • Experience handling dangerous goods (chemicals)

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which may include verification of the right to work in Australia, criminal history checks, and other role-specific requirements such as mandatory immunisations. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
