About This Opportunity
We are seeking an organised and highly motivated Student and Academic Administration Officer to join our world-class School of Biomedical Sciences.
This dynamic position offers you the opportunity to play a key role in supporting students and staff by providing accurate advice and information within the University’s policy and legislative framework. You'll be at the heart of student administration, managing applications, assessments, enrolments, and examinations, while also handling critical academic tasks such as maintaining course profiles, updating Blackboard sites, and processing grades. The role also contributes to the continuous improvement of administrative processes and workflows. You'll engage directly with stakeholders through outreach events like UQ Open Day and provide valuable secretarial support to committees and working groups, including preparing and interpreting reports using information management systems.
If you are external to the University, this role would offer the perfect opportunity to kick start your career in higher education at one of Australia’s leading universities. For current UQ staff members, this is an ideal secondment opportunity offering you the chance to upskill and gain valuable experience supporting this busy, high performing team. Please note any secondment arrangement would require approval from current management.
About You
Our ideal candidate will possess:
- Relevant undergraduate qualification or equivalent experience and/or training.
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, student and academic administrative processes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work accurately.
- Ability to work independently with initiative, sound judgement and attention to detail.
- High-level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with a strong customer service focus and ability to communicate with diverse student groups.
- Experience in a tertiary or large organisation environment.
Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks including verification of the right to work in Australia (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment) and a criminal history check. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
