About the Role:
As a Student Fees and Visa Compliance Officer, you will deliver accurate, student‑focused advice on fees, payments, financial assistance and visa compliance while ensuring adherence to key legislation such as HESA and ESOS. You will manage fee administration processes, assess refunds and remissions, issue CoEs, support debt management activities, and provide high‑quality service across multiple enquiry channels. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the University and external stakeholders, you will contribute to maintaining compliance, enhancing the student experience, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide excellent customer service to students, addressing inquiries related to fees, visa compliance, and related topics.
- Collaborate with various university departments to ensure compliance with visa regulations and reporting requirements.
- Monitor visa expiration dates and overdue debts, initiate timely communication to relevant clients to follow up on relevant matters.
- Provide timely and accurate advice on fees, payments, refunds, payment plans, financial assistance, and CoE‑related enquiries.
- Maintain and update records and databases in accordance with university policy and procedures.
- Investigate complaints, review appeals, and provide evidence‑based recommendations.
- Contribute to administrative functions, publications, and student‑facing resources, and represent the University at events.
- Who we are looking for (selection criteria):Relevant experience in High Education Sector, particularly in a student services environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge and skill utilising Microsoft Suite, e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, with strong numeracy, data entry and validation skills, especially in Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Experience monitoring compliance with policies, procedures or legislative requirements.
- Sound analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make fair, evidence‑based decisions with empathy when applying knowledge to resolve operational challenges.
- Ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Previous knowledge of Student One (Student Management System) and Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS) is highly desirable.
- Role Requirements:As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
- Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
