About the role

This is a hugely exciting time to be joining the Student Financial Support team as we look to expand our funding and advice services. Our new Imperial Inspires Scholarship Programme will transform our ability to support underrepresented groups, here in the UK and abroad, to enter into and excel in our STEMB degree programmes.

An excellent opportunity has opened for an experienced student funds and advice manager in our Student Financial Support team. Taking the lead on delivery of the university hardship funds, bursary oversight and funding advice coordination, you will have strong communication skills, knowledge of UK student funding and evidenced management skills.

What you would be doing

  • Coordinate activities associated with the administration of bursaries with an objective to deliver a strategic and forward-thinking overview, selection and administration policy which supports a world class service to applicants, students, and university colleagues.
  • Review and enhance streamlined administrative and payment procedures.
  • Work with university stakeholders over design and implementation of changes to the university bursary scheme, ensuring operational robustness and streamlining with existing schemes.
  • Be responsible for the website ensuring content is regularly reviewed and updated
  • Leading the ongoing development and coordination of university hardship funds
  • Communicating with colleagues at all levels of the university to keep staff updated on our services available

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience at similar level
  • Commitment to continual professional development in the area of student financial support
  • Proven experience as a cooperative team member who can also work independently.
  • Experience of using and managing databases to store, manipulate and retrieve information.
  • A proven ethos of providing a positive and responsive customer-focused service, including sensitivity to the needs of your customers
  • Experience of planning and progressing work activities within general guidelines, using initiative and judgment, making decisions where necessary
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively in order to achieve short, medium and long- term objectives
  • Experience of data analysis and calculations, presenting findings accurately and appropriately to support effective reporting of information
  • Meticulous, organised and very well-structured administrative skills
  • A high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail
  • First rate oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Advanced IT skills (word for general administrative duties and mail merge, excel with an understanding of V-Lookups, pivot tables, email and use of databases)
  • Professionally and personally committed to completing tasks successfully and produce consistently excellent results at work.
