Salary Range: $53,190 - $56,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Fostering Futures Student Success Coach II support undergraduate students at UT San Antonio with a history of foster care through a holistic, trauma-informed caseload model. This role provides individualized coaching, mentorship, and resource navigation to promote academic persistence, personal wellbeing, and timely graduation. The coach collaborates with campus and community partners to ensure wraparound support and advocates for students' educational and life success.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Manages and maintains regular contact with student caseloads to nurture students and assist in their academic and personal injury.
  2. Demonstrates appropriate and positive relationship-building skills with youth, staff, and community supporters.
  3. Utilizes skills and tools from the Coach certification training when engaging with students.
  4. Responsible for monitoring and assessing undergraduate retention rates, persistence predictions, and academic intervention planning for assigned workload.
  5. Conducts intake screenings, strengths and needs assessments, and develop individualized success plans.
  6. Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring through in-person and virtual settings.
  7. Monitors student academic progress, communicates with each student on a personalized basis; intervenes as necessary to assist those students having difficulty.
  8. Uses student success technology (e.g., Civitas, Sales Force, etc.) to manage caseload, facilitate outreach, conduct campaigns, and input documentation/notes on student services and individualized success plans.
  9. Maintains accurate records of student advising, mentoring, tutoring, etc. contacts, progress toward degree, and other student learning activities.
  10. Support students in navigating tuition and fee waivers, FAFSA, ETV, and other financial aid resources.
  11. Refers students to appropriate campus and community services.
  12. Responsible for maintaining and utilizing a UTSA One Card to issue Emergency Funds.
  13. Develops a working knowledge of tuition and fee waivers, federal Education and Training Voucher (ETV) program, FAFSA, and any other foster care specific education funding.
  14. Participates in meetings with campus/community champions to advocate for student wellbeing.
  15. Collaborates with Fostering Futures Program staff, Student Success units, and external partners to coordinate support.
  16. Promotes access to the Fostering Futures Program pantry and emergency funds.
  17. Contributes to the design and delivery of workshops and programming based on student needs.
  18. Presents on Fostering Futures Program services to campus and community stakeholders.
  19. Utilizes student success technologies (e.g., Civitas, Sales Force, etc.) to track engagement and outcomes.
  20. Assists with planning, carrying out, and promoting events and activities such as graduation celebrations, early start programming, etc.
  21. Engages in ongoing training, including trauma-informed care and other professional development.
  22. Maintains compliance with FERPA, UT San Antonio policies, and mandated reporting requirements.
  23. Upholds confidentiality and ethical standards.
  24. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • One (1) year of related work experience.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in social sciences.
  • Experience in working with child welfare system/foster youth.
  • Familiar with trauma informed practices.

Working Conditions

Office Environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.

Physical Demands

Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
