Position Summary Information

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the person assuming this position will be coordinating the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education degree program, teaching both graduate and undergraduate classes mostly for secondary education majors, advising students, conducting research, publishing in professional journals, serving on various committees, and assuming responsibility for helping to develop and maintain a quality secondary teacher education program in the School of Teacher Education. Additionally, the successful candidate will assume other duties as requested by the Dean of the CEAH and the Chair of the School of Teacher Education.

Qualifications

An earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction or a related education field is preferred. Additionally the candidate must have a minimum of three years teaching experience in Secondary or K-12 specialty areas. Of particular importance is a thorough working knowledge of current research and practices in secondary education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.

Salary Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction or a related education field, thorough knowledge of current research and practices in literacy, and three years of experience in teaching elementary or secondary school age children. A record of publications and presentations is also preferred.
