Student Support Specialist-Title IV-E Child Welfare Program (MSUAASF Range B)
Job Description: 1. GRANT COMPLIANCE. Monitor current student and recent graduate eligibility for the Title IV-E Child Welfare Program. Manage post-graduate tracking activities and provide ongoing support to graduates in their efforts to meet post-graduation employment search and payback requirements. Schedule and monitor student attendance at required workshops, conferences and program group meetings and completes exit interviews for Title IV-E Child Welfare Program students, faculty, staff. Manage database of students and related relevant reports. Coordinate the annual Title IV-E Child Welfare program budget reports, training, renewal processes, and evaluations. 2. COMMUNICATE AND COLLABORATE. Maintain communication with multiple departments at WSU including Social Work, Financial Aid, Student Services, and the Business Office. Communicate regularly with Title IV-E Child Welfare Program BSW MSW Coordinators and Field program on issues related to student completion of academic, practicum, and post-graduation requirements. Coordinate of the Title IV-E Child Welfare Program’s marketing and web-based social media activities. Coordinate child and family related training opportunities on campus and in the community. Serve on the Title IV-E Child Welfare Program leadership team in the Social Work Department. 3. MONITOR BUDGET. Monitor program expenses and timelines. Assure the completion and delivery of budget related documents required by WSU and MN DHS. Authorize expenses as required in the Title IV-E Child Welfare Program annual budget for student recruitment, support, training, and related activities. Coordinate budget reports, including the annual Child Welfare Stipend Program contract proposals, training, renewal processes and annual program reports and evaluations. 4. MANAGE DATA. Manage an online database requiring final reports and data entry from multiple forms to track stipend recipient’s progress, documents, and activities related to completion of academic program and post-graduation employment repayment obligations. 5. PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of Winona State University. Duties include but are not limited to professional development.
Salary Range: $38,797.00 - $78,458.00; Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field. Two (2) years’ relevant work experience. Experience in word processing, spreadsheets and database software, and reports/graphs. Must be able to travel independently.
Preferred Qualification: Experience working in Social Work or Child Welfare setting. Current State of Minnesota social worker licensure (e.g. LSW) or ability to attain licensure upon hire. Experience with grants, contracts, and/or budgets. Experience in working in collaborative programs, initiatives, or teams. Specific interest in and/or experience with children and families. Knowledge of undergraduate and/or graduate social work programs. Ability to interpret and implement departmental, institutional, state and federal laws and policies related to education and human service data privacy laws, social work education, and child welfare professional practice. Able to develop and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, faculty and professionals of diverse backgrounds with strong interpersonal and cross cultural oral and written communication skills. Able to handle multiple projects with strong multitasking skills. Able to assist students resume building and interview skills.
