The Cancer Epidemiology Research Program in the Public Health Sciences Division is seeking a highly motivated individual to support a complex cancer research study involving health and behavioral interventions. The Cancer Epidemiology Program is part of the Fred Hutch's Division of Public Health Sciences, home of an extensive portfolio of population science research, large specimen and data repositories, a SEER cancer registry, a prevention center designed for intervention research and a multidisciplinary faculty. Fred Hutch, together with the University of Washington and Seattle Children's, is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with training programs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Dr. Dong-Woo Kang's Lab is seeking motivated Study Aides to support ongoing work in lifestyle (exercise and nutrition) intervention clinical trials in patients with cancer. This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in patient-centered research, exercise science, nutrition, or oncology to gain hands-on experience in a clinical research environment.

This is a paid, hourly position requiring a minimum commitment of 5-10 hours per week, performed at Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle, WA.

This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Screening patients for study eligibility and assisting with clinical trial recruitment efforts.
  • Supporting general research preparation and coordination including patient materials.
  • Performing data entry and managing research data.
  • Assisting with literature reviews and manuscript preparation when opportunities are available.
  • Contributing to other study-related tasks as needed across various clinical trials.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Strong oral and written (English) communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience writing scientific reports and tables in Word.
  • Ability to use build and manage Excel databases, including PivotTables.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An entry-level background in exercise and/or nutrition.
  • Current enrollment in or a recent graduate of a program in health science, kinesiology or exercise science, nutrition, public health, or any health-related field.
  • Experience in a clinical or research setting.
  • A strong interest in oncology research and lifestyle interventions.
  • Experience with research data management software (e.g., REDCap) and/or patient data management programs (e.g., EPIC).

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 13 days per year).
