Summer NSF Internship
Job Summary/Basic Function
The summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, funded by the NSF Division of Computer and Network Systems, focuses on Training Research for Undergraduate Students in Secure and Trusted Systems (TRUST). It emphasizes hardware security in areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), embedded AI security, detection and mitigation of side-channel attacks, and the security and trust of firmware and embedded systems. This program runs from June 1 through July 31, 2026.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet federal contract requirements.
- Electrical engineering, computer/software engineering, computer Science, or any other related disciplines with a 3.0 or higher GPA
- Sophomore, junior, or senior
- Must graduate after September 2026.
Essential Functions and percent of time
- Conduct Research in Trusted Microelectronics (40%)
- Perform hands-on research in the lab, focusing on trusted microelectronics and semiconductor security to assist in the design, implementation, and development of research projects related to hardware security and cybersecurity. (50%)
- Utilize lab equipment and software tools to analyze, test, and evaluate hardware security solutions. (25%)
- Participate in technical workshops and hands-on experiments to enhance research capabilities. (25%)
Working Conditions
This is a 10-week Internship. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
