Summer Youth Academy Curriculum Developer

The Curriculum Developer will create complete curriculum packages that enable instructors to deliver high-quality, student-centered learning experiences across multiple academy pathways.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Youth Development, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years curriculum development experience.
• Experience writing K-12 curriculum.
• Experience with project-based learning.
• Experience developing hands-on learning experiences.
• Experience working with grades 4-9 students.

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching certification.
• Camp curriculum development experience.
• STEM, arts, healthcare, entrepreneurship, leadership, or workforce education experience.
• Experience creating interdisciplinary curriculum.
• Experience training instructors.

Position details include but are not limited to:

• Curriculum Design:
  • Design comprehensive academy curricula for full-day, five-day camp experiences.
  • Create standards-aligned and age-appropriate learning experiences.
  • Develop academy learning objectives and outcome measures.
  • Build engaging project-based learning experiences that culminate in a student showcase, expo, gallery, competition, or presentation.
  • Ensure curriculum reflects student interests, career pathways, workforce trends, and experiential learning practices.

Develop the following for each academy:

  • Academy overview
  • Learning objectives
  • Daily schedule
  • Activity instructions
  • Facilitation tips
  • Classroom management recommendations
• Lesson Plans:
  • Detailed lesson plans for each day
  • Learning targets
  • Activity procedures
  • Discussion prompts • Reflection questions
  • Assessment opportunities
• Student Materials:
  • Activity sheets
  • Journals
  • Project guides
  • Design templates
  • Challenge cards
  • Reflection tools
• Assessment Tools:
  • Performance rubrics
  • Student self-assessments
  • Teamwork assessments
  • Showcase evaluation tools
  • Skills demonstrations
