Supervisor, Receiving
Description
Supervises staff directly involved in shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, store special event setup (game day concessions, commencement, MIC), etc. Utilizes buyers' purchase orders and ARC to process shipments received including unloading of trucks. Enters data into inventory management system (ARC) from invoices, packing lists, etc. Processes merchandise/textbook orders (outbound & in-store reservations) received from consumers via web, mail, fax, phone, etc. from inquiry to delivery. Processes customer merchandise returns related to these orders. Assists in processing merchandise returns to vendors, keeping Business Office Accountant informed. Manages off-site stockroom facilities and reports inventory to appropriate staff.
Examples of Duties
- 45%: Utilizes buyer purchase orders to process and log shipments received, including unloading of trucks. Ensures items are scannable by POS (Point-of-Sale) before delivering to merchandise staff. Cooperates with buyers to ensure merchandise is correctly bar-coded. Reports shipment discrepancies, including over/under shipments and defective/damaged merchandise to the vendor, shipper, buyer of record and Business Office Accountant as appropriate.
- 25%: Enters data into inventory management system from packing lists, invoices, etc. Forwards original documents to Business Office Accountant for payment processing and filing.
- 10%: Supervises, schedules and trains part-time staff. Develops, prepares and conducts scheduled (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) assessment of areas of responsibility to enhance decision making of University Store.
- 10%: Cooperates with management, buyers & other staff to process returns to vendors. Supports the overall operation of the UCM Store by performing store opening and closing duties.
- 5%: Manages and transfers merchandise to/from offsite stockroom facilities and reports inventory to appropriate buyer as requested, but not less than quarterly. Performs an annual inventory of all offsite storage locations and reports it to the Director. Provides support to Associate Director in preparation for the annual physical inventory of the store's merchandise.
- 5%: Provides for the physical delivery, setup and relocation of fixtures, equipment and merchandise within the store and for off-site events (author signings, athletics, commencement, etc.). Ensures that store vehicle receives regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
Typical Qualifications
Education: Associate's Degree in Management, Business, or related field required.
Experience: Two (2) years POS/back office applications/web applications, shipping/receiving, materials handling or related experience required. One (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
Supplemental Information
Excessive standing and/or walking. Exposure to heights. Lift 40-60 lbs.
