Working Hours: Days & Times varies

General Description

Bring your surgical expertise into the classroom at SUNY Niagara! You've spent your career working in high-pressure surgical environments where precision, teamwork, and preparation matter every day. Now, take that experience and help build a growing Surgical Technology program designed to prepare students for successful careers in the operating room.

SUNY Niagara is seeking a Full-Time Surgical Technology Instructor who is ready to share their real-world knowledge, guide students through hands-on learning experiences, and help strengthen the healthcare workforce across Western New York.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This position offers the opportunity to move beyond the day-to-day demands of the operating room while still remaining connected to the profession you love. Faculty have the ability to shape curriculum, work closely with students in both lab and clinical settings, and play an important role in developing highly skilled surgical technologists for our regional healthcare partners.

The Surgical Technology Coordinator/Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students in our Surgical Technology Associate degree program, preparing students for entry-level positions as surgical technologists. The instructor provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction; supports student success; and participates in curriculum development, assessment, and program accreditation activities.

As an integral part of SUNY Niagara's Allied Health programs, you will provide in-depth classroom, clinical, and lab instruction, covering essential topics and giving students a comprehensive educational experience. You will facilitate computer-based scenarios to replicate real-life patient care, coordinating learning experiences for students. This position will also be responsible for student advisement and participation in divisional and college activities. These assignments are during the day, evening, or weekend hours.

This position may be required to work for periods of time in the summer months (June, July, and August) as the Program Coordinator. The base salary will increase with the additional responsibilities of the Coordinator, with stipends in the summer.

In addition to the base salary, there are many ways to increase the salary further by teaching overload, teaching summer courses, doing special assignments etc. There is a tenure track pathway for promotion to higher level salaries of Associate Professor and Professor.

The start date of the position will be August 27, 2026 (pending budget approval). The successful candidate will only be required to work 162 days per academic year (August – May) and will be provided with a winter break from mid-December to early January, and a Spring Break for one week in mid-March.
