Surplus Warehouse Specialist
JOB SUMMARY:
Coordinates, oversees, and executes receiving and surplus operations for Clemson University. Supervises inventory, property control, and warehouse activities. Provides leadership in shipping, receiving, temporary storage, and disposal of university-owned materials, including hazardous and surplus property. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
70% - Essential - Central Receiving:
Supervises the receipt, inspection, documentation, and delivery of incoming shipments. Maintains material handling equipment and ensures safe operation in compliance with OSHA and university policies. Coordinates deliveries with campus customers. Stores and safeguards hazardous/perishable materials. Certified forklift operator.
20% - Essential - Surplus Processing/Disposal:
Processes Declaration of Surplus Property forms received from departments.
Arranges for and picks up items for transfer to Surplus Property Warehouse. Assists,
when required, items to determine disposition. Collects and sorts recycled items,
prepares lots for resale, coordinates and executes surplus monthly sealed bid. Drives commercial trucks for deliveries and pickup of equipment, material and furniture.
10% - Essential - Business Services Operations:
Serves as the designated backup to the University Fleet Manager, with responsibilities including fuel tank and pump monitoring, building access management, and oversight of university vehicle operations. Coordinates the surplus disposal of departmental vehicles in accordance with university policies and state regulations. Maintains active certification as a DHEC Underground Storage Tank (UST) Class A/B Operator. Additionally, provides comprehensive support for Clemson Blue Cheese operations, including manufacturing assistance, packaging and labeling, distribution and logistics, and support for retail and university-sponsored events.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - A high school diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment.
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Work Experience - 3+ years
Certifications - Forklift Safety

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range ($ 33,800.00 - $ 41,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Essential Level 2 employee
Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
