System Administrator
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a System Administrator for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The System Administrator reports to the Unit Computing Manager and is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining departmental servers and services, including Windows, Linux, and Microsoft SQL servers, as well as Energy Management Systems (EMS), and business-related applications.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Diagnosing and resolving operating system problems, supporting EMS software applications, and providing second-level end-user support.
- The position also monitors the health and security of departmental hosts and networks, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our departmental monitoring system and SIEM infrastructure, and designing, developing, and maintaining Office 365 PowerApps applications with SharePoint and Microsoft SQL database back-end connectors.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as Administrator of Windows Server environments that include Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and Windows Server 2025.

Equipment Utilized: Energy management applications, HVAC, and industrial control systems from various vendors.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The position maintains critical infrastructure services available 24/7; the incumbent would be required to be on-call for problems to be resolved quickly. At times, the incumbent may need to work outside of normal work hours to minimize server maintenance downtime.
