Systems Administrator- Intermediate
Job Summary
The System Administrator Intermediate reports to the Director of System Administration. A System Administrator Intermediate is responsible for management and day-to-day work of maintaining, monitoring, backing up, building, and troubleshooting the assigned campus server systems. This position also mentors the System Administrator Associates. Position may require travel. Confidentiality agreement is required for all IT positions and will be renewed annually.
Responsibilities
Administration - 60
- Assist in the assignment of duties for System Administrator Intermediate and Associate positions.
- Routinely monitor systems for service availability and remediate system issues.
- Monitor ITSM for assignments
- Review and update system documentation.
- Maintain the complete life cycle for assigned systems.
- Administer and maintain campus virtualization and storage area network infrastructure.
- Incorporate Information Security standards for new systems and services.
- Evaluate system and service compliance with Information Security standards.
- Monitor campus application security patches and alerts. -60%
Research - 30
- Evaluate enterprise solutions to address campus needs.
- Watch for emerging technologies that may be useful in continual process review and improvement initiatives. - 30%
Communications - 5
- Notify system stakeholders in the event of system availability issues.
- Notify IT Leadership of service and system issues.
- Work with vendors as needed -5%
Other - 5
- Other duties as assigned. - 5%
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of Windows system administration experience
- 2 years of cloud computing experience virtualization administration experience
- 3 years of Linux system administration experience
Proposed Salary
This position is a pay grade 9. The available salary range is $52,880.00 to $63,364.00. Starting salary within this range is based on relevant years of experience.
