Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

License/Certification Required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Talent Acquisition Consultant is a hands-on strategic partner to the App State community who will intentionally drive recruiting and retention initiatives to recruit a highly talented workforce in support of advancing the mission, vision, and goals of the university.

  • Talent Acquisition Consultant for Assigned Areas: This position is the primary point of contact for all recruitment and selection needs in assigned Divisions and researches, facilitates, and develops innovative solutions to uphold and improve the recruitment, selection, and hiring processes. This role will consult with search committee chairs/members and hiring authorities, and senior management in assigned areas, with guidance in best practices for the recruitment & selection process guided by policies & procedures. Nature of duties and responsibilities must meet established objectives and deadlines with postings, screening and evaluating application materials, consulting with prospective applicants, and ensuring compliance. Researches and develops sourcing avenues to expand talent acquisition. Provides consultation on salary equity and EEO Compliance. Consults and strategizes with hiring departments on difficult-to-fill vacancies.
  • Collaboration within the Human Resources Unit: Collaborates with the Human Resources Employment Team to determine recommendations for changes to procedures; assigns work to improve efficiency and effectiveness; administers effective strategies to enhance our partnerships on campus in the search process to ensure proper procedures, equitable searches, and timely processes.
  • Community Outreach: This position engages in traditional and non-traditional outreach and networking to access needed talent. Building trust within pertinent communities will be an important piece to the success of this role.
  • New Hires in Assigned Areas: Initiates background check orders and facilitates the onboarding process for each new hire in the assigned areas.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

  • Ability to develop professional relationships to increase credibility for building support and reaching consensus when explaining and interpreting policies and procedures within the Employment Program;
  • Progressive experience in talent acquisition in a university setting or a large complex employer.
  • Ability to collaborate with constituents to resolve difficult issues in the recruitment and selection process;
  • Ability to advise and consult with a complex workforce professionally and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must possess demonstrated excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills;
  • Prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable of different recruiting tools/applications and familiar with recruitment trends;
  • This position must be knowledgeable in the Employment Policies and Procedures as it consults with management, hiring authorities, and search committees on the best practices for recruitment & selection, on fair and equitable searches, and on EEO Laws.
  • This position requires a high level of integrity, independence, and participation in policy, service, and/or program development

Work Schedule/Hours: Mon - Fri, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Suggested Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000
