Teacher, English - Upward Bound Program

• Design and implement engaging English Language Arts (ELA) lessons focusing on reading, writing, grammar, and critical thinking skills
• Prepare students for college-level coursework by teaching essay writing, literary analysis, and research skills
• Develop culturally responsive and student-centered curriculum aligned with college-readiness standards
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment
• Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, and feedback
• Provide individualized support to students needing additional help with reading and writing skills
• Collaborate with program staff, tutors, and counselors to address students' academic and personal development
• Encourage and guide students through the college application and essay-writing process
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and program activities
• Support program enrichment activities such as field trips, guest speakers, and workshops
• Other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required, degree in English or a closely related field preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience teaching English at the secondary or postsecondary level preferred.
• Valid teacher certification preferred.
