Position Summary

The Department of Biology at University of Detroit Mercy College of Engineering & Science invites candidates to apply for a full-time Instructor Position in Biology. Teaching would commence in August 2024. This is a non-tenure track position renewable up to two years. Detroit Mercy is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse and inclusive academic community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities will include teaching microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and laboratory courses for Biology Majors and potentially upper-level courses based on area of expertise that complements or expands current offerings in the department.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Candidates must hold a MS in the Sciences.
• Experience teaching in the college setting using active teaching strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience collaborating with other instructors across a shared course.
• Knowledge of assessment strategies associated with course learning outcomes.
• Knowledge of pedagogical best practices for a diverse undergraduate student body.
• Knowledge of the needs of students transitioning to university learning environment.

Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).

Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
