External Job Description
Pay: $54,000 - $60,000 per year. - Collaborate with faculty authors in the design and development of new courses to be offered on both asynchronous and synchronous online learning platforms.
- Advise and assist faculty in the application of technological resources needed to enhance teaching and engage students in the learning process.
- Guide faculty authors on course pedagogy, design, development, and ongoing continuous improvement, throughout the course development process.
- Collaborate with faculty authors in reengineering of old courses and transitioning course content into new platforms.
- Support faculty in development and maintenance of existing online courses.
- Research and evaluate the integration of new software applications, tools and technologies, including multimedia, to enhance web course delivery.
- Collaborate with University subject matter experts to design and develop online training for students and staff.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology or a related field.
- Two or more years working in an instructional design capacity, collaborating directly with faculty in online curriculum-building and web-based course development.
- Knowledgeable about course pedagogy, design, development and improvement.
- Proficient in at least one online course delivery platform (preferably Instructure Canvas).
- Proficient in basic HTML and inline CSS code.
- Experience with rapid content development software (e.g., basic photo editing in Photoshop, Snagit; basic web design in Adobe Dreamweaver; audio production in Audacity, tutorial, interactive, and video production in Captivate or Camtasia).
- Demonstrates creativity and critical thinking ability.
- Good oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Online teaching experience (preferred).
- Experience conducting educational research (preferred).
- Experience in universal design for learning with knowledge in accessibility standards for online courses and familiarity with assistive technologies for online environments (preferred).
