Summary

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice at Saint Xavier University is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach Sociology of the Family (Thursday 02:00PM - 04:50PM) and Social Theory (Tuesday, Thursday 09:30AM - 10:50AM) offered during Fall 2018 semester.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Course Descriptions:

Sociology of the Family

• This course examines how this ancient institution continually adapts to social pressures and how its different incarnations help individuals adapt to a changing world. The course emphasizes important factors such as social class, race and ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation and how these relate to different experiences in family relationships, gender roles, marriage/partnership and domestic conflict.

Social Theory

• This course examines the basic concepts of classical and contemporary sociological theory.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have at least an MA or equivalent in Sociology or related field. An earned doctorate is preferred. Highly sought after candidates will have experience teaching at the collegiate level.
