Reporting to the Department Chair, the Term Assistant Professor of Sociology is required to teach five courses at the undergraduate level that meet the department’s current curricular needs.Job Description:

This position requires a five-course teaching load, availability to meet with students during weekly office hours, supervision of teaching assistants as relevant, and all aspects of course management. Areas of specialization are open but we are particularly interested in the ability to teach undergraduate courses that complement existing offerings in our department, for example, classes in gender, organizations, education, Latino/a sociology, or technology and society. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

Salary: $82,000 annually

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

Ph.D. in Sociology (by time of appointment) and at least one semester of independent teaching experience are required. Evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are strongly preferred.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
