Company: Shorter College- Alexander Turner Child Development Center Job Title: Teacher Department: Academic Affairs Status: Hourly Full-Time Start Date: Upon completion of Background Checks Location: North Little Rock, AR Salary Expectations: $12 to $13 Per Hour Work Schedule: Monday - Friday SUMMARY, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position facilitates learning for children, infants to 3 years old classroom. Teachers are required to use an approved developmentally appropriate curriculum which promotes routines, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of children in the program. Our teachers must be able to teach, monitor, and supervise children utilizing prescribed educationally focused curriculum. Must be able to adapt to the needs of the children and the community, while maintaining and fostering positive and constructive interactions with children and parents. Ensure and maintain a safe and clean environment. Monitor children’s progress and facilitate open communication with parents daily and through conferences. Understand and use school readiness to tie learning to parents and community needs. Consistently strives to meet all teacher responsibilities and the education of the children. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma, CDA Certification or Associate of Art Degree, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education. At least one year of experience with a licensed preschool or childcare provider. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to plan, work, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Strong tact and diplomacy; interacts with and works cooperatively with children, parent and staff. REASONING ABILITY: Work independently with minimal supervision. Initiative to develop and maintain communication and build relationship with parents and others. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: CDA Certification, CPA/First Aid, Any licenses, certificates, or specialized training that are required by the state law. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to lift up to 20 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions. Flexible/Adaptable to constant change.
