Job Description:
Description of Department: The Finance Office, as part of the Division of Administration and Finance, provides support to departments on campus in processing financial and administrative tasks associated with meeting the fiscal needs of the campus.
The Finance Office at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full-time Budget Analyst.
Posting Date: August 9, 2024

Compensation: Minimum salary $56,000, commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

Description of Responsibilities:
The Division of Finance & Administration at the State University of New York at Oswego is seeking a Budget Analyst. The Budget Analyst will serve the campus community as a main contributor to budget development, analysis and financial reporting. The Budget office administers the University's State appropriated budgets totaling more than $110M annually. The Budget Analyst will be expected to work collaboratively with all members of the organization to amplify awareness of fiscal positioning and honor attention to detail in the process of auditing allocation, expenditure and revenue balances. The selected candidate will have superior analytical skills and be able to work both independently and collaboratively on special projects.
Responsibilities and Areas of Focus:
- Assist in management of day-to-day budget operations
- Support the development of the colleges operating budget
- Monitor and project personal service expenditure commitments
- Accurately monitor position vacancies, account FTE levels, and report discrepancies
- Assist in preparation of cyclical and ad-hoc budget and financial reports for dissemination among internal and external campus departments
- Review budget and financial reports to highlight variances in all budget objects between local and central system totals
- Reconciliations as needed

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or finance related field by time of appointment
- 1 to 3 years' financial experience in a business office setting (i.e. accounting, billing, budget, finance)
- Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated high proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications (i.e. excel, word, access)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Experience working in Higher Education Finance - Specifically SUNY.
- Experience in developing reporting and ad-hoc analysis
