Job Description:

The Post Doctoral Research Associate will be working on projects related to cultivation of microalgae and cyanobacteria. The candidate will be expected to perform laboratory experiments in support of funded projects, perform laboratory experiments to develop new areas of research, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, present results at professional conferences, write manuscripts for publication in refereed journals, and write/assist with preparation of grant proposals.


The employee in this role must have a combination of applied- and fundamental- science experience. Prior experience in indoor and outdoor cultivation/maintenance of microalgae is required. Prior experience in greenhouse management and in guiding graduate students is also required. This employee must be self-directed and able to work with minimum supervision. The employee must also be able to document results and write quarterly/yearly progress reports to the granting agency.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Engineering undergraduate and/or graduate degree in biotechnology or related field

• Prior experience in indoor and outdoor cultivation/maintenance of microalgae

• Prior experience in greenhouse management and in guiding graduate students

• Prior publications on algae cultivation in reputed peer-reviewed journal(s)

• Strong scientific writing skills demonstrated by experience authoring high quality scientific papers.

• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communications skills

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a research team or individually to complete projects with limited supervision
