The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) was established in 2023 by UNSW Medicine & Health to operate as a gateway to connect and collaborate with UNSW’s rich ecosystem of expertise and infrastructure in clinical research.
As a growing group of academics and operational professionals with extensive experience and knowledge in the planning and conduct of human research, the CRU provides academic researchers with the crucial support required to plan and execute impactful clinical trials and research studies.
Why your role matters
The Marketing and Communications Manager plays a key role in planning and managing the marketing and communication strategy and activities that support business development for the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) in UNSW Medicine & Health. The role will be responsible for day-to-day marketing activities and formulating the marketing and communications strategy to effectively support the objectives of the CRU and affiliated units.
About the Role
This role will lead the marketing and communications function of the CRU, in collaboration with related business units within the Faculty of Medicine & Health. You will be required to undertake and have experience in the following areas of expertise:
- Work with the Director of Operations and the Program Operations Lead for the Clinical Research Unit to develop and implement marketing strategies and plans to support business development activities.
- Participate in Clinical Research Unit’s strategic planning activities with respect to evaluation and improvement of current stakeholder relations and services and future business development opportunities and activities.
- Design, develop, update, and maintain online and print marketing materials for Clinical Research Unit including brochures, presentations and electronic newsletters. Collaborate with UNSW Design and Print services or manage external vendors as required.
- Identify opportunities, and design and develop communications plans and marketing materials to support them, including social media, speeches, pitches, brochures, signage and reports for distribution through a wide range of channels within UNSW and externally.
- Maintain databases used for marketing, business development and public relations and generate reports as requested.
- Manage business development events, and opportunities for Clinical Research Unit, including, developing, organising, and providing support for events, conferences, seminars.
- Work in collaboration with Clinical Research Unit Training Manager to ensure capacity development strategy and engagement activities and material are of highest quality and reach end users.
- Create, manage and execute content strategy on the Clinical Research Unit’s owned channels, including news and social media, with the aim to promote key research, activities, initiatives and build reputation.
About You
- A relevant tertiary qualification and experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven expertise in content production and curation across most digital mediums including digital and print materials, preferably in higher education or medical research sector.
- Demonstrated track record in attracting research projects and identifying business development opportunities to support growth.
- Proven success in developing marketing plans and campaigns.
- Metrics-driven marketing mind with eye for creativity.
- Proven expertise in content production and curation across most digital mediums including digital and print materials, preferably in higher education or medical research sector.
- Knowledge of best practice digital content including analytics and SEO.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and input to achieve successful outcomes.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, consistency and the ability to enhance and bring content to life.
- Extensive experience in managing events.
- Proven understanding of target audiences, with an effective writing style and ability to deliver high-impact messaging to key audiences.
