Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 532696) (to commence in August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a one-year temporary term, or a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totaling up to 10% of basic salary, and with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Social Sciences, Science or a related discipline, with at least one year of experience in teaching and research. They should have excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, as well as an excellent command of written and spoken English. Preference will be given to those with experience of teaching and research in computational social science, social data analytics, population studies or related social sciences disciplines, especially good command of Python and R language for various social sciences/humanities applications. The ideal candidate will be able to assist in multiple courses such as machine learning, programming, big data analytics, statistics, social network analysis, natural language processing, and population analysis.

The appointee will work on the Master of Social Sciences in the fields of Social Data Analytics, and Population and Policy Analysis programmes offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences. He/She will assist course teachers in course preparation, administration and other academic activities, grade and provide feedback on assignments and tests, invigilate examinations, provide consultative support to students outside class, and perform other duties as assigned by the Programme Directors or their delegates.
