Responsibilities
- This position requires passion and ability to teach undergraduate students the principles of scientific writing, literature review composition, research methodology, data analysis basics, (e.g., descriptives, correlations, thematic text analysis) and synthesis.
- Office hours availability, accommodation of multiple one-on-one check points throughout the semester, as well as detailed and fast (5-7 days) assignment feedback are expected. Attendance to bi-weekly meetings throughout the semester for professional training is required.
- Instructors are expected to guide students to choose a research topic that is creative and manageable, as well as assist them to complete a Capstone project. This position requires creating and implementing active and engaging lessons that infuse the course learning objectives. More specifically, candidates should be able to teach the following:
- IHS 3931 Junior Seminar – Focus: Problems and Issues in Healthcare
- IHS 4501 Senior Seminar – Focus: Prospectus and Project
- IHS 4901 Capstone Class – Focus: Capstone Report and Poster, Analytical Essays, Professionalism in Health Care
Qualifications
Individuals with an academic doctorate or highest level terminal degree from an accredited institution in public health, behavioral science, life sciences, social work, social science, or related field with professional (applied and research) experiences in health care related areas are encouraged to apply.
Graduate students currently pursuing a doctoral degree or individuals with a master level degree in these areas with professional (research and applied) experiences in healthcare related areas are also encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- The successful candidate must have classroom teaching experience, preferably at a college level with a demonstrated track record of effective teaching.
- Experience teaching scientific writing and research (qualitative and quantitative methodology) is ideal.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, and a record of published works and/or conference presentations are highly desired.
- The successful candidate will need to possess organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as promote an environment that is student-centered and values mutual respect, teamwork, and open communication for students, faculty, and staff.
- Expertise using Canvas to engage students in active learning, ensuring that learning objectives are met, is required.
