Position Summary
The Department of Marketing in the School of Management at the University at Buffalo (UB), a flagship member of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and a leading public research university, invites applications for a non-tenure-track qualified faculty position in Marketing Department.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the School of Management through excellence in teaching, service, and, for qualified candidates, leadership of the School's Behavioral Research Lab. Primary teaching responsibilities will include the delivery of eight to nine courses annually in marketing or related areas. Service expectations include active engagement with the department, school, university, and broader community through activities such as advising student organizations, serving on committees, and supporting outreach initiatives.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the department welcomes applications from candidates interested and qualified to serve as Manager of the Behavioral Research Lab. In this leadership role, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for behavioral research activities that support faculty, doctoral students, and other researchers across the School of Management. The ideal candidate will possess expertise at the intersection of behavioral science and industry engagement, serving as a key liaison among faculty researchers, corporate partners, and advanced biometric and behavioral research technologies.
The department seeks to fill this position immediately and will consider candidates for either a teaching-focused faculty appointment or a combined teaching and lab management role. Depending on the responsibilities assigned, the appointment may be structured as either an academic year or a 12-month position.

Primary Responsibilities
Teaching
- Teach undergraduate and graduate marketing courses
- Maintain excellence in classroom instruction and student engagement.
- Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor students and support experiential learning opportunities.
Service
- Participate in departmental, school, and university service activities.
- Support outreach efforts and partnerships with industry and community organizations.
- Contribute to initiatives that enhance the national visibility of the Department of Marketing and the School of Management.
Responsibilities Specific to the Behavioral Research Lab
Corporate Consulting & Project Management
- Design and execute research strategies to address complex business questions utilizing various methodologies.
- Author Statements of Work (SOWs), define project timelines, establish budgets, and manage client deliverables.
- Prepare highly visual, executive-ready presentations featuring actionable design directives.
Lab Management
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Behavioral Research Lab.
- Recruit, train, and supervise graduate and undergraduate research assistants.
- Develop and maintain participant recruitment systems and research databases.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, human-subjects research requirements, and ethical research standards.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, iMotions software, and research resources.
Research Design and Execution Support
- Collaborate with faculty and graduate students on behavioral and consumer research projects.
- Provide expertise in study design, survey development, experimental methodology, and data collection procedures.
- Support grant-funded and externally sponsored research initiatives.
- Facilitate implementation of behavioral, consumer, and decision-making studies.
Analysis and Reporting
- Conduct or support quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Develop reports that deliver results and insights.
- Assist researchers in interpreting findings and communicating results to academic and industry audiences.
- Maintain documentation and reporting systems related to laboratory activities and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), UX Research, Cognitive Psychology, Marketing Analytics, or a related marketing or behavioral science field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience designing and conducting behavioral or consumer research studies.
- Proven track record of managing paid corporate consulting projects, user testing, or market research studies.
- Technical Expertise: 1- 3 years of hands-on experience utilizing iMotions software and integrating eye-tracking hardware (e.g., Tobii, Pupil Labs).
- Familiarity with supplementary UX tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Hotjar) and advanced statistical software (SPSS, R, Python).
- Experience with advanced biosensors such as EEG or facial expression coding (Affectiva/FACET).
- Prior teaching experience at the university-level.
- PhD in Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Psychology, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
