Brief JD

As a full-time Teaching Fellow in Digital Media and Communications/Digital Creative Practice the postholder will be expected to undertake up to 14 hours of timetabled teaching per week on our very successful suite of established undergraduate and postgraduate digital media & communications programmes. The postholder will also undertake personal tutoring and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate taught dissertations and organisation, management and leadership duties.

The successful candidate will be committed to providing an excellent student learning experience and be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of teaching and assessing students in App-based audio-visual production and editing using software such as Adobe Express, Canva and Dolby On;
  • Experience of teaching and assessing students on the theory and practice of digital media;
  • Experience of supporting students with creative projects in the classroom and in one-to-one supervisions;
  • Experience of teaching on team taught modules.

The post is fixed-term, for one year from 1st September 2026 until 31st August 2027 due to the non-recurrent funding stream.

Person spec

  • Higher degree in area relevant to digital media & communications or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience of teaching and assessing students in App-based audio-visual production and editing using software such as Adobe Express, Canva and Dolby On
  • Experience of teaching and assessing students on the theory and practice of digital media;
  • Experience of supporting students with creative projects in the classroom and in one-to-one supervisions
  • Experience of teaching on team taught modules.
  • High level analytical capability
  • Ability to design and deliver module materials successfully
  • Ability to assess and organise resources effectively
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes
  • Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
