Teaching Professor (all ranks) in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management
The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering atArizona State University (ASU) and the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence (SCAI) seek applicants for a teaching faculty position in the area of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. Teaching faculty positions are non-tenure track appointments with a fixed term academic year contract. Appointments will be made at the rank of Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Assistant Teaching Professor commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2026.
The faculty member will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing curriculum, and fostering student success in a global academic environment. Teaching faculty should have the ability to teach in multiple areas across the industrial engineering and engineering management curriculum and body of knowledge, but specifically, courses focused on engineering economics, information systems, work analysis and design, operations research, quality control/management, probability and statistics. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching undergraduate classes and mentoring students with all backgrounds.
Teaching faculty contribute to the service mission of programs of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering through student outreach activities, service on committees, and industry engagement activities. Faculty are also expected to remain engaged through professional development and external services.
Essential Functions
- Instruction:
- Teach and co-teach courses in-person and online
- Deliver lectures and utilize ASU’s instructional platforms, like Canvas and other learning management systems(LMS) technologies
- Facilitate active learning through discussions, assignments, projects, and feedback both in person and virtual environments.
- Curriculum Development:
- Design and/or refine course materials (online and in-person) to maintain ASU’s academic standards while incorporating global perspectives.
- Utilize instructional technologies and best practices to enhance the learning experience in various teaching modalities.
- Student Support:
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain regular communication with students to ensure engagement and success in online, in-person, and hybrid modalities.
- Hold office hours and be available for student inquiries and guidance.
- Service and Engagement:
- Participate in program/school meetings, faculty development, and service activities, contributing to ASU’s mission of educational excellence.
- Engage in scholarly and professional activities related to learning, global education, and the discipline.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in either Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or a closely related discipline is required by the time of appointment.
Desired qualifications:
- Ability to teach effectively across various modalities, including online, hybrid, and in-person instruction; evidence may include past teaching experiences and student/peer feedback, or other indicators of instructional effectiveness.
- Highly organized and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple course engagements simultaneously within a single semester/session while maintaining a dynamic and proactive teaching approach.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching. This can include student evaluations, peer reviews, or teaching awards.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in pedagogy, instructional technology, and global education. This includes participation in workshops, conferences, or other relevant activities.
- Willingness to contribute to the academic community through service activities such as mentoring, curriculum design, or committee work within the program, school or university.
- Engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning, contributing to ASU’s mission to innovate and lead in higher education and advance knowledge
