Technical Lead, Infrastructure Services
Job Summary
The Technical Lead Infrastructure Services will be responsible for determining project requirements as related to Infrastructure Services. Liaising with team members, group director, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard. Identifying risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible. Analyzing existing operations and suggesting improvements. Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and developments. Performing troubleshooting as required. Being transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes. Writing progress reports and delivering presentations to the relevant stakeholders. Mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
COLLABORATION: Work with the group director to provide for the sound management of the Division's network and voice solutions by establishing and managing strategies for providing appropriate levels of production support (Tier 2+). Planning for upgrades and enhancements in conjunction with releases from vendors and other source providers. Prioritization and management related to managing hardware and operating system end-of-life schedules.
INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT: Works closely with technology, applications, and program managers to architect major infrastructure components and processes; plans architectural improvements in coordination with project managers and provides architectural guidance and support to infrastructure engineers and quality analysts.
ESTABLISHING STANDARDS: Establish technology and infrastructure standards, and vet emerging technologies within assigned areas.
STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT: Encourage the appropriate attention to strategic developmental activities that correlate to the Division's ability to serve the university in the future, evaluating recommendations from your units within the context of established enterprise priorities, standards of the institution, and expectations of service of the Division while integrating technological changes and advancements.
VENDOR RELATIONSHIPS: Establish and manage relevant vendor relationships that provide value to the university and hold the sourcing providers appropriately accountable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with five years' experience in network administration using Cisco network gear.
Preferred Qualifications
CCNP Enterprise certification. Experience in higher education environments. Experience with Palo Alto gear.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Strong knowledge of Cisco network gear.
Experience leading large-scale deployment and optimization projects.
SKILLS
Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B16
Salary: $95,200/annually-$120,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
