Technician, Floor (Multiple Openings)

Responsible for the maintenance of all types of floor surfaces, walls, and upholstered furniture in assigned buildings. Performs other related tasks as needed. All activities shall contribute to the continuous improvement of operational efficiencies in the College’s facilities, which are located on multiple campus sites and span more than 1 million square feet.

$34,424.08
Mid Salary
$38,727.09 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience.
Duties/Functions
Education Required
GED or High School Diploma
Experience Required
2 years of minimum experience in floor care maintenance processes in an educational facility or commercial cleaning environment.
KSA Required
- Ability to drive a box truck or vehicle to transport equipment and supplies to other campus sites. A valid driver’s license is required with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items such as furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to operate several types of floor care equipment. (Standard, high, and low-speed buffers, extractors, and automatic scrubbers) and the Kaivac machine.
Department/Job Specific Requirements
- Requires kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching. Also requires climbing stairs and balancing, as well as physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, and push heavy objects or materials.
- Due to the nature of the job, an acceptable background report is required. Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record is required.
- Participation and successful completion of federal, state, or locally required training but not limited to Blood borne Pathogens, HAZMAT, Chemical Safety, Emergency Action Plans, Asbestos Awareness, Emergency Equipment (fire Ext.), First Aid, PPE, Reporting Practices, Anti-Harassment, and Personal Information Protection Training is mandatory.
- The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire, with annual refresher training thereafter: Ethics, Safety/Shooter on Campus, Personal Information Protection Training (PIP), Anti-Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX, Other training may be required as determined applicable.
