This position is primarily responsible for the management and implementation of a preventive maintenance and repair program for all assigned institutional vehicles. Formal training in vehicle repair/maintenance is preferred. The jobholder utilizes Vehicle Preventive Maintenance software. Manages bulk fuels/motor oils inventories. Performs vehicle assessments, assists with fleet replacement planning, and purchases new vehicles. Manages vehicle-related recycling processes.

Min Salary: $44,993.26

Mid Salary: $50,617.41 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience.

Duties/Functions

Education Required

• Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology and one year of experience OR
• Automotive Technology diploma and two years of experience OR
• High School diploma or GED with minimum of 3 years of vehicle service, maintenance, and repair experience in a commercial shop.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required within 6 months of employment.

KSA Required

• Skilled in routine servicing and maintenance of vehicles, i.e. tune ups, brake jobs, oil changes, basic engine & electrical systems diagnostics, headlight replacements, and other typical minor vehicle maintenance.
• In addition to basic maintenance, technicians will be experienced in higher-level repairs such as axle/wheel bearing replacement, suspension repairs, manifold gasket replacement, HVAC repair, etc.
• Ability to determine parts needed for vehicle repairs.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy, bulky objects up to fifty pounds.
• Ability to work at times other than scheduled hours.
• Ability to work in inclement weather, i.e., snow removal, etc.
• Ability to work well independently and exercise sound judgment in prioritizing tasks in a changing environment.
• Ability to operate as a part of a trained emergency response team at a moment’s notice.

Department/Job Specific Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Required OSHA/Safety training to include, but not limited to, the following: Chemical Safety (HazCom/Hazmat); Crane/Lift/Hoist Safety; Emergency Equipment, incl. fire ext; First Aid; Flammable & Combustible Storage & Handling; Forklift/Industrial Vehicle Safety; Hand and Power Tools; LP Gas Storage and Handling; Noise and Hearing Conservation; Reporting Requirements.
• The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire, with annual refresher training thereafter: Ethics; Safety/Shooter on Campus; Personal Information Protection Training (PIP); Anti-Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX; Other training may be required as determined applicable.
