Technology Consultant - Computer Technology Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technology Consultant serves as a strategic advisor and technology liaison for the Duquesne University community, including faculty, staff, and students. This role is responsible for providing expert consultation, conducting market research, and developing tailored technology solutions that support academic and administrative initiatives. The Technology Consultant exercises independent judgment in recommending products and assists in the procurement processes. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge, customer engagement, and contributing directly to the strategic goals of the Technology Sales at the TechHub.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides expert consultation to university stakeholders on technology solutions, including hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Perform research on vendor offerings and collaborate with technology partners to identify optimal pricing, value, and procurement strategies.
- Develops and presents formal quotes and proposals tailored to departmental and individual needs.
- Analyzes inventory trends and assist in strategic purchasing decisions to optimize store performance.
- Oversees the coordination of product deliveries, special orders, and repair services, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment.
- Manages technology and catalog for internal and external customers on ecommerce sites, such as Unimarket and Cashnet.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in technology, business, sales or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in retail, technology consulting, or customer service.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in retail, technology consulting, or customer service.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in higher education.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

- Ability to understand technical requirements and communicate recommendations to non-technical audiences.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak University events (e.g., student move-in, orientations).
- Experience with ITSM tools and remote support technologies
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
