General Information:
The Telecommunication Department at James Madison University is accepting applications for an Entry Level Cable Puller to assist with the installation of low voltage telecommunications cabling. This role supports network infrastructure projects by pulling, routing, labeling, and securing cable in an institutional environment.
Hours of operation: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The University will adopt a modified summer schedule beginning Monday, May 18 and ending Friday, August 14, 2026. Our hours of business will be Monday - Thursday 8:00 - 4:30, and 8:00 - 11:30 on Friday.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret floor plans, install, repair, and maintain various types of telecommunications Infrastructure and devices as instructed.
- Represent JMU Telecom professionally.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- After Training - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
- Ability to work indoors & outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to walk long distances, bend, kneel, climb, and lift equipment (up to 75 lbs).
- Ability to work around active construction sites, traffic, uneven terrain, & confined areas.
