Duties & Responsibilities
The Voice Telecom Project Manager drives enterprise-level initiatives that enhance and modernize the university and health system’s voice communications services. This role leads cross-functional teams, coordinates with vendors and campus stakeholders, and ensures successful delivery of initiatives such as cloud voice adoption, service improvements, platform upgrades, contact center enhancements, carrier transitions, and operational readiness. The position manages full project lifecycles; requirements gathering, technical scoping, dependency mapping, vendor coordination, testing, deployment, and operational transition. The Project Manager focuses on clear planning, effective communication, risk management and ensuring reliable, user-centered voice services The work location is virtual, but requires the employee to live and work in the east coast time zone.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Significant experience managing complex technology programs, preferably in telecommunications, cloud voice, or contact center modernization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate large-scale technology transitions.
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships. Well developed written and verbal communications skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language for diverse audiences, including end users, vendors and leadership. Established track record of successfully organizing, prioritizing and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines consistently and adapting to shifting priorities with minimal supervision.
- Successful history influencing and persuading individuals and/or groups towards common ground solutions. Proven ability to manage program-level reporting.
- College degree in telecommunications, information technology or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, proactively identify, recommend and implement process improvements. Exhibit proficiency in the use of technology to compose professional business email communications, manage inboxes efficiently, schedule and coordinate meetings, create reports, proposals and documentation and build and manage spreadsheets for data tracking and reporting.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours based on business needs and to support occasional on-site meetings, customer engagements and/or attend professional development opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a university and/or hospital environment.
- PMP or related certification Experience with cloud voice architecture and unified communications technologies
- Knowledge of Avaya PBX systems, SIP, E911 and voice related integrations for healthcare applications (e.g., Spok, Ascom, Epic) Experience with CCaaS platforms such as NICE and Five9 or similar.
- Experience creating process documentation and standard operating procedures
Salary Range
$71,500 - $143,000
