Department Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Post-doc research experience that includes conducting, disseminating, and publishing ethics, critical theory, and humanistic research; mentoring undergraduate and graduate students reviews, books, articles, and other publications and presentations at local, state, and performing research; preparing lectures, reports, literature national level
- Successful media, technology, or business industry (non-academic) experience, such as start-up, entrepreneurial, managerial, or executive experience, or similar in order to successfully bridge gap between knowledge generation and application
- Expertise in qualitative and critical approaches alongside excellent proficiency in interdisciplinary approaches and collaboration
- Experience with data collection processes (e.g., focus group facilitation, face-to-face and telephone interviewing, conducting observations, surveys, case studies, critical theory, critical discourse analysis, critical and interpretive ethnography)
Job Summary
Responsible for the planning, implementation, and execution of research activities leading to the establishment of an externally funded research program (e.g., experimental design and implementation, data collection, reduction, and interpretation, manuscript and grant development, and administrative tasks related to the research). May serve as Principal Investigator (PI)/CO-PI for projects and grants, as well as other interdepartmental projects that can be used as cost-share for the research center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, leads, conducts, and reports original research initiatives; performs research activities leading to externally funded research program
- Designs, constructs, and operates highly complex research apparatus
- Conducts experimental design and implementation, data collection, reduction, interpretation, manuscript and grant development
- Mentors undergraduate students performing research and supervises research lab
- Uses standard evaluation tools and methods and assists in creation of new data collection instruments when necessary
- Responsible for grant writing, proposal development
- Coordinates with other campus academic colleges to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to research
- Performs all duties described in grants and external projects, including but not limited to preparing progress and final reports, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, attending grant related meetings, and preparing publications
- Supervises and mentors other members of grant team when required by grant
- Disseminates knowledge through reports, articles, white papers, other publications and presentations at local, state and national level
- Prepares lectures and presentations
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Doctoral degree in discipline related to the specific research
Required Experience
At least three (3) years post-doctoral research experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field such as higher education, student affairs, student personnel services, educational leadership, or a related field
Preferred Experience
Experience with grant writing and securing grants
Experience conducting mixed-methods research, including quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Proficient computer skills, use of statistical packages and proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases
Experience with statistical analysis software (SPSS); Stata and NVivo is preferred
Experience with data collection processes (e.g., focus group facilitation, face-to-face and telephone interviewing, conducting observations)

Extensive documented contributions to the scholarly discipline
Documented in sponsored program development
Able to lead and conduct research
Able to supervise others' work by virtue of being a program manager, project director/principal investigator, coproject director/principal investigator, or task leader on sponsored research
Able to manage multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Publication of research results is highly desirable
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Strong writing skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, Desktop Publishing software)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
