Summer research field assistant positions at the University of Pennsylvania (15 April - 10 September):
Are you looking for an outdoor research position this summer? Join our multidisciplinary team at Penn's Evolution and Ecology of Disease Systems lab! We are investigating how climate change affects the seasonal activity patterns of ticks, and how these seasonal changes impact populations of the Lyme disease pathogen.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Record climatic and landscape data
- Collect ticks that are active during the summer
- Work outdoors in teams, ensuring safe tick collection
- Hike through our beautiful field sites on Natural Lands Trust preserves throughout southeastern Pennsylvania
- Contribute to scientific research
In This Project, You Will Have the Opportunity To:
- Participate in the design of an ecological study
- Learn theoretical and practical research-design elements, including sampling strategy, data collection methods, and hypothesis generation
- Use identification keys for insects and other arthropods
- Learn database management
