Position Focus:

Yale School of Nursing (YSN) is seeking a Research Associate to join a dynamic and growing Research Team. YSN, located on the beautiful and sprawling grounds of Yale West Campus, is conveniently located near major highways. The HiFi Lab is a global interdisciplinary research operation that develops and tests the implementation and efficacy of interventions to stop the spread of epidemic. We have expertise in multiple areas but specialize in HIV. The work of the HiFi Lab spans three continents (Africa, Asia, North America) and is supported by National Institutes of Health as well as private industry and foundation sponsors. We conduct various types of research designs including randomized controlled trials, observational studies, epidemiological studies, qualitative studies, and implementation trials aimed at demonstrating the public health impact of interventions at scale.

The Research Associate will be responsible for assisting with a) facilitating routine meetings and follow-ups with the community partners, b) conducting the day-to-day operations for the active research studies, c) creating and managing reports outlining study progress and achievement of benchmarks, d) creating, submitting, and managing all IRB documentation, clinical trials regulatory documents, NIH progress reports, etc. e) managing dissemination streams (email, social media, websites, etc,), f) literature reviews and preliminary drafting of manuscripts/proposals.

Essential Duties

1. Recommends the design and implementation of procedures and protocols under the direction of a higher-level authority. 2. Investigates, analyzes, and reaches preliminary scientific conclusions related to research planning. 3. Ensures data results are compiled, analyzed, and presented properly. 4. Analyzes, develops and interprets scientific results. Maintains clear documentation of results. Prepares scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published reports. 5. Performs independent research and laboratory techniques and participates in experimental research planning. 6. Interacts with internal contacts including the PI, research assistants, graduate students, Radiation Safety and Biological Safety officers, and Animal Care personnel to discuss and evaluate research results and to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the laboratory. 7. Interacts with external contacts such as researchers at other institutions, staff at biotechnology and reagents companies to consult on research methods and to keep abreast of product information and developments. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline and one year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Ability to work in a team-based environment as well as independently.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Proven experience conducting community-based research with racially minoritized and/or sexually minoritized communities in the United States of African country settings.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage time and organize competing priorities.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Master’s Degree in a related discipline and one year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
