Tenure-line Faculty Position in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (Open Rank)

The School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) invites applications for multiple tenure-line faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor, aiming to establish a national center of excellence for data science and artificial intelligence in Kinesiology. The University of Michigan continues to make substantial investments in advanced technology, including artificial intelligence, as a part of its Look to Michigan vision.

Successful candidates will join a vibrant and collaborative faculty dedicated to excellence in research, teaching, and service. We seek scholars who develop and apply advanced technologies, leveraging expertise in data science or artificial intelligence, to address challenges in sport business, human health, sport science and performance, and physical activity.

Candidates will be expected to maintain a robust research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in one of our four programs, and have research expertise appropriate for effectively mentoring trainees at the undergraduate, doctoral, and/or post-doctoral levels.

Requirements include a doctoral degree in kinesiology or a closely related field, such as data science, information science, computer science, or electrical engineering, and, appropriate for their rank, experience mentoring and teaching undergraduate and graduate students, publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research, engagement in service, and the ability to seek and secure external funding. Candidates should demonstrate their contributions to a positive workplace culture aligned with our school’s core values.
