The Department of Physiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) (https://www.uthsc.edu/physiology/) invites applications and nominations from talented individuals to fill a Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position to complement and extend departmental and campus-wide research in the broad areas of cardiovascular and renal physiology and diseases. The Department of Physiology at UTHSC was recently ranked ten out of all Physiology Departments in North America for total federal research funding. The Department faculty conduct diverse, innovative research towards understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of physiology and translational research employing multidisciplinary approaches to uncovering new biological principles impacting human diseases.
We are particularly interested in candidates with active nationally-funded research programs to complement existing departmental strengths in cardiovascular and renal diseases, diabetes, ion channel physiology, signal transduction, mitochondrial biology, injury and repair. The primary duties of this position are to maintain a vigorous, creative, nationally funded research program, supervise graduate students, and teach physiology to medical and dental students

Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D, or equivalent degree, at least 4-5 years research experience in a physiology-relevant field, and an excellent publication record. Preference will be given to applicants who have federally-funded research programs and demonstrate strong potential for securing future national funding.
