Tenure-Track Assistant Professor - Department of Microbiology and Immunology
Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The research focus for this recruitment is microbial pathogenesis and antimicrobial resistance of bacteria or parasites. Relevant areas include, but are not limited to, exploring mechanisms of immune evasion or pathogenesis, understanding mechanisms leading to antibiotic resistance, preventing antimicrobial resistant infections, developing novel antibiotics to overcome resistance, or enhancing immune response to antimicrobial resistant pathogens. Successful candidates will be expected to establish an active research group, be an interactive member of the faculty, and participate in interdisciplinary research and training.
Current research areas in the department include infection biology of tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV; tumor immunology; cancer diagnostics, anti-cancer agents, mechanisms of telomere regulation and phosphate homeostasis in yeast.
We offer a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with access to AAALAC-accredited animal facilities, BSL3 laboratory space, state-of-the-art core facilities and partnerships across the Tri-Institutional community in the Upper East Side in NY (WCM, MSKCC, Rockefeller University), as well as Cornell Tech, and Cornell University. The position includes dedicated lab space, a competitive start-up package, and structured mentoring and promotion support.
Qualifications
- PhD or MD/PhD in microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, immunology or a related field
- At least three years of postdoctoral experience
- Demonstrated research excellence and potential for scientific leadership
- Commitment to mentoring and teaching
