Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Quantum Finance
The Finance (FNCE) Area at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Quantum Finance. The appointment start date is July 1, 2026.
We are seeking candidates whose research focuses on FinTech and emerging technologies in financial markets, and who demonstrate a strong interest in engaging with quantum research. While prior work in quantum technologies is not required, the successful candidate should show clear potential and willingness to contribute to a growing stream of research in Quantum Finance. This includes exploring how quantum computing, algorithms, cryptography, and sensing can be applied to financial markets, in alignment with the University of Calgary's Quantum City initiative.
Candidates must have:
- A PhD in Finance, Economics, or a closely related field, completed or expected to be within one year of the date of appointment.
- Evidence of excellence in research, as demonstrated through a high-quality job market paper, working papers, and a strong pipeline of future research. Seasoned candidates are expected to have publications or invited revisions in top-ranked journals.
- Experience presenting at leading conferences in the field.
- Willingness and ability to teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
- A demonstrated commitment to service contribution to the university.

Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Develop and maintain a high-impact research program in Quantum Finance and/or FinTech;
- Publish in leading academic journals;
- Engage in outreach and collaboration with academic, industry, and policy communities;
- Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in related areas;
- Provide service to the university and the academic profession consistent with the rank of Assistant Professor.
