Job Description
The School of Management at Binghamton University (State University of New York at Binghamton) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Management Information Systems to begin Fall 2026, subject to budgetary approval.
The successful candidate should demonstrate research and teaching excellence. We seek applicants with the ability to teach in areas relevant to the contemporary information systems curriculum, including topics such as cybersecurity, advanced analytics, AI, and related domains that prepare students to address organizational and societal challenges.
Our faculty members pursue a wide range of research topics across information systems and related fields, and we welcome applicants with research interests in any area that complements and extends this diversity.
The start date for the position is August 17, 2026.
Position Responsibilities
- Produce original and innovative research to be published in leading academic journals.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in information systems and related areas. The standard teaching load is 2+2 per academic year.
- Participate actively in the MIS Ph.D. program and student advising.
- Participate actively in the MIS online program development.
- Contribute to the School, the University, and the professional community by actively engaging through service by involvement in committees, shared governance, and review services.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. To support faculty research, SOM provides summer funding for the first three years of service.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in business administration with specialization in information systems or closely related field by July 1, 2026.
- Demonstrated ability to establish a successful track record of scholarly research. This can be substantiated by providing copies of published articles, submitted manuscripts, and /or work-in-progress papers aimed at publication in distinguished journals.
- Demonstrated capability or potential to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in information systems or closely related areas, evidenced by prior teaching, certification, curriculum development, or a teaching statement that details how the candidate would design and teach the course.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability or interest in teaching courses related to cybersecurity.
- Experience applying for and obtaining external research funding.
- Experience teaching or developing online courses.
