Tenure-Track Faculty Position at the Dartmouth Cancer Center, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth

The Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Geisel School of Medicine to join either our Immunotherapy and Cancer Immunology (ICI) or Signaling, Genomes and Networks (SGN) Research Programs. Exceptional candidates at senior ranks may also be considered.

We seek an outstanding and collaborative individual to develop an innovative research program in cancer immunology or cancer biology. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, cellular therapy, tumor microenvironment and myeloid cells, antibody therapeutics, immune checkpoints, cancer vaccines, and T-cell immunology, the study of vertebrate models of cancer, the development of therapeutic strategies for or resistance mechanisms of cancer, and studies of cancer signaling pathways. The successful candidate will be appointed into one of several academic departments at the Geisel School of Medicine based on the focus of their research program, including Microbiology and Immunology, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, or Molecular and Systems Biology. DCC, one of 57 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, offers a dynamic and interactive environment, with a commitment to research excellence commensurate with Dartmouth’s status as an R1 Doctoral University. The successful candidate will have access to thriving multidisciplinary graduate programs through the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies (e.g., the Program in Molecular and Cellular Biology, which contains a concentration in Cancer Biology, and the Program in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences). Faculty members at the Geisel School of Medicine benefit from highly collaborative and collegial interactions across Dartmouth, inclusive of other departments at Geisel, the School of Arts & Sciences, and the Thayer School of Engineering. In addition, candidates may benefit from interactions with three current NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBREs), Dartmouth's Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSA), Dartmouth’s supercomputing networks, clinical faculty and other resources at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and a new Dartmouth Innovation Accelerator for Cancer, which supports commercialization of Dartmouth discoveries. A generous start-up package as well as access to state-of-the-art research facilities will be provided. Successful candidates are expected to develop a robust research program and excel in graduate student teaching. Applicants should have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree with relevant post-doctoral training and a track record of research productivity.

Dartmouth is committed to academic excellence and encourages the open exchange of ideas within a culture of mutual respect. Dartmouth welcomes people with different backgrounds, life experiences, and perspectives and believes that diversity in all its forms enhances academic excellence.

Application materials should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a teaching statement, a 3-page statement of research accomplishments and goals that emphasizes the cancer relevance of an applicant’s research, and three letters of recommendation.

The cover letter should include: (1) a summary of the impact and importance of past work, (2) a statement on how efforts in the candidate’s research, teaching, and engagement could benefit the Dartmouth community, (3) comment on how the Dartmouth Cancer Center would benefit the applicant’s academic program and aspirations, and (4) how their research, teaching, service, and/or life experiences prepare them to serve Dartmouth’s commitment to academic excellence in an environment that is welcoming to all. Application materials should be uploaded electronically to Interfolio. Review of applications will begin December 1 and continue until the position is filled. Questions may be directed to Dartmouth.Cancer.Center.Jobs@Dartmouth.edu.
