Position Summary:
The Test Proctor ensures accurate, secure, and professional delivery of all standardized testing services within the Testing Center. This role supports students by coordinating exam scheduling, verifying accommodations, and administering tests in a manner that upholds exam integrity and adheres to all established policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for providing frontline operations support, serving as the primary exam proctor, and maintaining a testing environment that is responsive to the diverse needs of all students. Additionally, the role is responsible for safeguarding testing materials, monitoring exam sessions, enforcing testing protocols, and promptly reporting any testing irregularities to the Testing Coordinator.
Primary Job Duties
- Conduct computer-based, internet-based, and paper–pencil exams in accordance with all testing policies, procedures, and security protocols.
- Staff the Testing Center front desk, provide customer service to students and faculty, and serve as the primary proctor during all testing sessions.
- Enforce guidelines and policies set forth by the testing companies. Secure and maintain accurate records, files, and Test Center statistical data.
- Communicate regularly with faculty, staff, and campus partners regarding exam delivery, testing procedures, and accommodation needs.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a college or university setting, particularly within disability services, student affairs, or academic testing centers.
- Prior experience with or exposure to specific assistive technologies such as screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA), or speech-to-text software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking).
- Background in providing clerical or administrative support in a fast-paced office environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must project a positive, professional demeanor with outstanding customer service orientation.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, thoroughness and follow-through in completing tasks.
- Effective written and oral communication skills are required to receive and respond to inquiries.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and refined listening ability,
- Discretion, tact, and judgment are required in dealing with a range of situations which may involve complex, sensitive, and private issues
- A foundational understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as they pertain to academic accommodations in higher education.
