The School of Transdisciplinary Studies (STS) is established in early 2025 to support the University’s strategic commitment to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching, research, and knowledge exchange. STS responds to the increasing need for holistic, cross-boundary approaches to address complex global, regional, and societal challenges.

STS is dedicated to offering innovative undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that go beyond conventional boundaries. Through cross-school cooperation and inter-university partnerships, STS provides students with unique opportunities for experiential learning, problem-based inquiry, and international exposure.

The appointee will be a senior member of the University, working in close collaboration with other Schools and units of the University to promote interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary studies programmes and research at HSUHK. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic & Research), the appointee will provide academic leadership and strategic direction for the School of Transdisciplinary Studies, overseeing the development, promotion and delivery of interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary studies programmes, research activities and initiatives at HSUHK.

Applicants should:

• possess a doctoral degree in related disciplines, while other degrees crossing science and humanities & social science are an edge;
• have at least 10 years of experience in developing, promoting, and teaching in higher education institutions, preferably in interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary studies programmes;
• demonstrate a proven track record of fostering collaborations in research projects and grants; prior work experience with external partners like the Education Bureau, Hong Kong Council of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and charity trusts will be preferred;
• be a dynamic and forward‑looking individual with a strategic mindset and a strong commitment to education; and
• will hold a concurrent academic appointment in the School.
