The Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana invites applications for a junior-level teaching professor who will teach primarily within the New Horizons program for the department's MA and MDiv degrees. The successful candidate will develop and teach introductory graduate theology courses to prospective students who are discerning applications to the Notre Dame MA and MDiv degrees. The successful candidate will be a creative and entrepreneurial pedagogue, willing to work with national and ecclesial partners to envision and build pipelines of ministry students who will study at Notre Dame and be placed upon graduation where the church is growing and in need. In addition to teaching, this position participates in the recruitment, admission, formation, and placement of future ministers trained by the Notre Dame MA and MDiv programs. The candidate can be a member of any theological subfield, but should excel in teaching major Catholic theological topics, scriptural exegesis for ministry, and theology of ministry. Responsibilities will include teaching and mentoring prospective master's level students who will be applying to Notre Dame's MA and MDiv degree programs, involvement with the recruitment and discernment efforts of both programs, and working with applicants, admissions, and placement. A PhD or equivalent in any theological subfield, along with either an MDiv or significant pastoral experience, is required. Spanish language proficiency is preferred. The starting date for this position will be July 1, 2026. The initial appointment is renewable annually, pending availability of funding.
